Cameron Torres

Actor
He/him

Cam Torres is a multi-talented actor and playwright. Born and raised in Fall River, Massachusetts, Cam has spent a lifetime building stories onstage and in his community. He discovered theatre at just seven years old through LEAP FROG, a local program run by his aunt. As he puts it, “I did my first play through this program and I was sold from there.” That early spark grew into a career defined by curiosity, craft, and a deep commitment to the people and places that shaped him.

Cam trained at Emerson College, earning a B.A. in Theatre Studies with a concentration in Acting and Playwriting. After graduation, he built a vibrant regional career, performing with companies across New England including Cape Rep Theatre, 2nd Story Theatre, Bay Colony Shakespeare Company, and the Brown Box Theatre Project—where he toured Shakespeare and found one of his most enduring artistic homes.

His acting credits span contemporary drama, Shakespeare, comedy, and musical theatre. Highlights include George Gibbs in Our Town, Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing, Dave Bukatinsky in The Full Monty, Ever Montgomery in Dancing Lessons, Claudius in Hamlet, and Lysander in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has also originated roles in new work, including the world premiere of James Franco & Me.

In 2017, Cam wrote Don’t Feed the Bear in a single burst of inspiration—“I wrote the entire first draft in about 3 hours.” The dark comedy, which explores mental health, loss, and human connection, became a defining artistic milestone. After years of shaping the script, he premiered it with Brown Box Theatre Project in 2019, performing the role of Will. The production toured from Boston to Tiverton, Rhode Island, and later to Maryland, the Hollywood Fringe Festival in Los Angeles, and Calgary, Alberta. Cam continues to perform the piece and is currently in talks to bring it to the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, with future hopes of PDV Fringe (2027) and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2028).

Alongside his acting career, Cam has written multiple short plays and full-length works, including Hummingbirds, inspired in part by his family and hometown. A Tune of Hummingbirds follows Miles and Isaac, who meet at 11 years old at theater camp and forge a bond that spans 25 years of friendship.  The play explores the magic of creativity, the power of nostalgia, and how the dreams we chase--or let go of--can shape a lifetime. Funny, painful, and achingly human, it's a story about growing up, growing apart, and the unexpected ways people return.

He remains closely connected to Cape Rep Theatre, where he returns this spring to appear in 9-Ball by Art Devine.

For Cam, theatre has always been about community—about returning, contributing, and creating work that resonates. Whether embodying Shakespearean heroes, contemporary everyman, or the raw interior world of his own characters, he brings humor, heart, and a grounded humanity to every role he takes on.
