David Laros
Composers
Composer, pianist, singer, songwriter
David Laros was born and raised in Stratford Connecticut, a small-town name in honor of Shakespear’s birthplace, Stratford on Avon, England. Living nearby a replica of the Globe Theater, it was easy for David to become a passionate thespian, acting in musical theatre productions, including Sweeney Todd, West Side Story and Hair. David began composing music for piano and writing lyrics at age 10 and later, as a teenager he began recording original albums. He recorded with a top producer in Nashville, and more recently wrote and recorded two albums for his theatrical rock band, BLACKLETTER, that has been featured on international radio. David has entertained crowds, night after night, playing their favorite songs at piano bars across the country, from Universal Studios to Cancun, to Point Street Dueling Pianos in Providence, as well as Top of Pelham, The George, and Clarke Cooke House in Newport. Rhode Island. Recently, David turned his attention full time to composition of his newest work, My Ghosts, a musical written in collaboration with his wife, Erica Elsa Laros. Having written the music and lyrics for the piece, David is starring in the lead role as Cab Curio. My Ghosts will have its first showcase in October 2024 at the Providence Art Club. In addition to writing music and performing, he also mentors a small group of piano and voice students in Providence, which he now calls home.
