Jack McCullough is a writer, actor, director, and producer whose career spans more than four decades across theatre, film, and television. A graduate of the original Trinity Repertory Conservatory and recipient of the Peter Kaplan Memorial Acting Fellowship, Jack has worked extensively in Providence, Boston, and New York City as a performer, director, writer, and producer.

In 2026, Jack wrote, developed, and performed SHAME MONSTER, his first full-length solo performance. Drawing on more than 70 years of family letters, journals, photographs, and personal history, the work explores family silence, inherited shame, buried secrets, and the emotional cost of truths left unspoken.

SHAME MONSTER premiered as part of FRINGEPVD 2026, where both performances reached capacity and received standing ovations. The production received the 2026 Audience Choice Award and the 2026 Award for “Fastest to Sell Out” for SHAME MONSTER.

Jack’s theatre career includes writing, developing, directing, and co-producing original works including My Life in the Trenches, Army Brat, and Collateral Damage, presented through venues and festivals including the International Midtown Theatre Festival, Ensemble Studio Theatre, East Lynn Theatre Company, The Kitchen Theatre, The One Theatre Play Festival, Lizzie Borden Live at 78th Street Theatre Lab, Polaris North Theatre, Canyon Moon Theatre, Columbus Theatre, and others. Jack spent 20 years working in the motion picture and television industry as an EMT and union set medic with IATSE Local 481, caring for cast and crew on feature films and television productions. His credits include Gone Baby Gone, Dan in Real Life, The Town, 27 Dresses, The Box, American Hustle, The Equalizer, Hachiko, Grown Ups, Irrational Man, Body of Proof, SMILF, Defending Jacob, I Care a Lot, NOS4A2, Honest Thief, X-Men: The New Mutants, The Polka King, The Discovery, Ghostbusters II, The Heat, and others.

Across theatre, film, and television, Jack’s work has been shaped by a lifelong interest in character, storytelling, human connection, and the ways personal experience can become art. With SHAME MONSTER, he has returned to the theatre with a deeply personal work that transforms family history and long-held silence into a story about truth, survival, and what love can look like after the truth is finally spoken.

Born in southeastern Massachusetts and raised between Massachusetts and Rhode Island, he moved to Providence in 1980 after being accepted into the original Trinity Repertory Conservatory. Today he lives and works in Rhode Island, where he continues to write, direct, perform, and develop original theatre.
